Hardwood Power Lams
Hardwood Power Lams
A well-designed composite bow starts—and succeeds—at the fadeouts. The Power Lam is an essential component for bowyers who demand both safety and efficiency from their limb design.
Installed under the backing at the grip area, the Power Lam gives you precise control over where and how the limbs begin to work, easing stress transitions and promoting smooth, predictable bend near the handle. It also allows you to replace wood that has already been removed during layout or tillering, making it possible to use thinner belly stock, conserve material, and often yield two bows from a single board instead of a pile of waste.
Practical benefits include:
-
Smoother, safer limb flex near the fades
-
Improved stress distribution in composite designs
-
Greater material efficiency and reduced waste
As a rule of thumb, select a length that extends approximately 2 inches beyond the fadeouts on a board bow with an added riser. Power Lams are available in multiple materials and lengths, all 1.5 inches wide, to suit a wide range of designs and build styles.
Simple in concept, critical in execution—the Power Lam is a small addition that makes a substantial difference in how your bow performs and how efficiently you build it.
